Nurja – Hand-dyed, one-of-a-kind skeins from Kaleva, Tampere
Nurja yarns are richly tonal and beautifully nuanced, hand-dyed just behind our brick-and-mortar shop in the Kaleva district of Tampere. Each skein is carefully crafted and signature colorways are divided into two categories: black-label and white-label.
The black-label yarns are repeatable shades and part of our permanent collection. White-label yarns, on the other hand, are small-batch, often one-off colorways that won’t be repeated exactly as they are. They’re perfect for adding something unique to your project or for pairing creatively with shades from the black-label palette. Mixing the two is a wonderful way to create a color story that’s all your own.
We use premium undyed base yarns sourced from a high-quality mill in the UK, specialized in producing bases for hand-dyers. Our merino wool comes from farms that do not practice mulesing, and the mill avoids the use of Australian wool altogether.
Every skein of Nurja yarn is dyed, finished, and labeled by hand in our own dye studio.
