John Arbon’s Exmoor Sock is a tribute especially to the Exmoor breed. The yarn is designed to be the perfect sock yarn, yet it’s versatile enough for knitting garments and other accessories that require durability. Lightly heathered and exceptionally beautiful, this yarn is a blend of various unique sheep breeds.

Exmoor Sock highlights the durability and resilience of the English Exmoor Blueface wool. Exmoor Blueface sheep are bred from the Exmoor Horn—known for producing abundant, strong wool—and the soft, lustrous Bluefaced Leicester sheep. To add depth, the yarn also includes flexible, resilient natural black wool from the Devon Zwartbles breed. A distinctive touch of softness comes from Falkland Corriedale. The yarn also contains 10% nylon for added strength and durability.

Exmoor Sock comes in convenient 50-gram hanks, making it perfect for colorwork and striped projects! Socks made from this yarn are not recommended for immediate use in shoes; instead, we suggest enjoying your finished socks at home first and getting to know your own way of wearing wool socks. Some people wear out socks faster than others, and especially tough surfaces like stone floors can wear socks quickly.

The yarn’s color palette is inspired by the changing seasons of the Exmoor landscape. Exmoor is a national park home to many rare wild plants, insects, and animals—including the Exmoor Blueface sheep.
